Chicago Top 10

Anne’s advice on local restaurants, attractions, coffee, etc.

1. Nobu Rooftop

Neighborhood: West Loop
A gorgeous, minimalist rooftop with indoor/outdoor seating serving japanese food worthy of instagram. Whether you stop in for quick bite, or take a date for the city views, you can never go wrong at Nobu rooftop.

2. Aba

Neighborhood: Fulton Market
Beautiful roof top deck for light food and drinks or an intimate dinner setting inside with great service and ambiance.

3. Metric Coffee

Neighborhood: Near West Side
My favorite coffee roaster.

4. Caffè Streets

Neighborhood: Wicker Park
Solid coffee and lattés. What more could you need to let off steam while savoring some steamed milk.

5. Sawada Coffee

Neighborhood: West Loop
The three P’s all coffee shops should have: pinball, ping-pong, and a punching bag. Not to mention lattés from a world-renowned latté artist. What more could you need to let off steam while savoring some steamed milk.

6. Momotaro

Neighborhood: Fulton Market
A giant space with a giant Japanese menu and still, years after being named Chicago’s best new restaurant, everything Momotaro offers is the gold standard. This is the place you’ll want to go to expand the horizons of your palate.

7. Roister

Neighborhood: Fulton Market
The name means “noisy celebration,” and the menu looks like a party where every guest brought a dish from a different part of the world (if every guest was a Michelin-star chef). Come for the world-class casual dining, stay for the music playlist crowd-sourced from fellow diners.

8. Aviary

Neighborhood: West Loop
If you want to impress someone with delicious cocktails that look like science experiments, Aviary is the place to go. There’s almost always a wait (well worth it), but reservations are available.

9. Beatrix

Neighborhood: Fulton Market or River North
An easy go to for a lunch meeting or dinner. Always a great atmosphere. The menu features healthy options, and is known for its iconic coffee and bakery counter, including signature cookies and in-house pastry favorites.

10. The Allis

Neighborhood: West Loop
Somehow both luxe and casual, the Allis is like your friend who always looks effortlessly put-together. Everything from breakfast to a mid-afternoon snack is jammed packed with flavor, and never fails to impress.
